On the morning of September 4th, our school held the opening ceremony of the first innovation pilot class in the Rare Earth Building C520, Huangjin Campus.University Party Secretary Yang Bin attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.Professor Huang Feng, Director of the Key Laboratory of Ganjiang Innovation Academy, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the relevant persons in charge of the Academic Affairs Office, the Student Work Department of the Party Committee, the Admissions and Employment Office and the Rare Earth Institute attended the opening ceremony.The opening ceremony was hosted by Li Zhen, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Rare Earth Institute.
At the meeting, Yang Bin expressed a warm welcome to the students on behalf of the university and introduced the basic situation of the university from the aspects of history, talent training and discipline construction, highlighting the wide application of rare earths as a national strategic resource in various industries such as national defence, aviation, life and industry.Yang Bin said that the positioning of the school's training goal for the innovation pilot class is not only to cultivate a craftsman or an engineering technician, but also to cultivate a group of leaders who can be rooted in the innovative development of the rare earth industry and lead the rare earth industry to new heights.He hoped that students would perfect their disciplinary theories, master the fundamentals, learn to integrate and integrate, grasp the frontiers of development, occupy a favourable position in future innovation, and grow into outstanding university students with a sense of home and international vision.
On behalf of the current students, Xiong Jialu of the 2019 Rare Earth Class put forward three suggestions to the younger students: firstly, to clarify their own development position and find the right development direction; secondly, to strengthen their execution ability and do things without procrastination and with a plan; thirdly, to keep their physical and mental health, to be strong and optimistic and strong.Wang Ziqi, a representative of the Class of 2022, said he would remember the school motto of "Aim high and be responsible" and theinsititute motto of "Be courteous and honorable, abide by righteousness and innovation", strive to carry forward the spirit of "three realities", adhere to the choice and direction, and give full play to his potential through the good platform provided by the school.
It is reported that a total of 60 students were enrolled in the first innovation pilot class, which was jointly trained by the University and the Ganjiang Innovation Academy, Chinese Academy of Sciences.The aim is to build an innovative model for joint training of talents around key national industrial areas, to jointly select and train high-level research talents with practical, cross-cutting, complex and international perspectives, and to provide support for the cultivation of new forces for national scientific and technological innovation and self-reliance.
